The Birth of Maison Pouyanne
It was at 16 avenue de l’Alma that Maison Pouyanne first opened its doors in 1903. Founded by Louis Pouyanne (1876–1953), the son of Marie Louise Pouyanne, a celebrated dressmaker of the 1880s, the house was born in a Paris pulsing with artistic fervour. That same year, Paul Poiret, soon to be hailed as the “King of Fashion,” established his maison. Alongside such visionaries, Pouyanne shaped colours and textures that lent grace and emotion to the creative spirit of a Paris fast becoming the world’s capital of elegance.
